FAQ – HOUSE WASHING

Frequently Asked Questions about House Washing and Pressure Washing

  1. What is Soft Wash House Washing?
Soft wash involves using gentle pressure and specialized cleaning agents to wash your home, ensuring no damage to the exterior siding by avoiding high-pressure water that could penetrate unwanted areas.
  2. What Types Of Surfaces Can Be Cleaned With Soft Washing?
Soft washing is suitable for cleaning roofs, vinyl siding, and certain decking materials effectively.
  3. Will your house wash remove the “green stuff” from my siding?
Yes, our soft wash system utilizes cleaning agents that eliminate algae (green stuff) and mildew (black stuff) from your home, allowing us to rinse it away and leave a clean surface.
  4. How long does it take to soft wash a house?
The duration depends on the size and accessibility of the house. With our experience and equipment, we can complete the task quickly and efficiently. Typically, a small ranch-style home may take just over an hour, while a large home could take most of the day.
  5. Why should I pressure wash/clean my concrete?
Over time, concrete tends to darken due to dirt, mildew, and algae buildup. Cleaning it will rejuvenate older concrete and give it a fresh new look.
  6. Will high pressure damage my home?
High pressure can indeed cause damage, which is why we use a soft wash system for house washing. We reserve high pressure for safe surfaces like concrete or landscaping boulders.
  7. What surfaces SHOULD I pressure wash?
Pressure washing can be safely performed on certain surfaces. Concrete, pavers, and some deck materials can be effectively cleaned using the appropriate pressure and techniques.
  8. How often should I have my house washed?
The frequency of house washing depends on the environmental conditions surrounding your home. Homes in shaded and moist areas may require cleaning every one to two years, while homes in drier, sunnier regions can often go several years between cleanings.
  9. How Do I Know Soft Washing Works?
You will see immediate results after soft washing. Additionally, you can visit our website to view before and after pictures, providing you with a clear idea of what to expect.
  10. Why Is Soft Washing Superior To Pressure Washing?
Soft washing is superior because pressure washing can potentially damage various surfaces and force water into unwanted areas. Moreover, many surfaces do not require extensive cleaning and can be effectively cleaned through soft washing.
  11. How long will a SoftWash last if I have algae on my siding?
If your home is located in a damp or shady area, algae may start to reappear within one to two years. However, many homes won’t experience new growth for several years.
  12. Is Soft Washing Safe?
Yes, soft washing is safe. We use the same active ingredient found in swimming pools. While we recommend keeping kids and pets indoors during the process, it is safe to be outside once the job is completed.
  13. What are those black dots still on my house siding?
Those black dots are known as artillery fungus or shotgun fungus. They thrive in moist landscape mulch and can shoot spores up to 20 feet away, landing on siding, cars, or any other objects near the mulch. Unfortunately, there is no safe and effective method to remove it from siding.
